Yamile Jackson (PhD in ergonomics and human factors engineering) developed the Zaky in 2001 for her son when he was prematurely born weighing less than 2 lbs. During his hospitalization of 5 months she wished she could cut-off her hand to leave it with Zachary, to leave her loving touch to comfort him, support him, and reassure him that he was not alone, so they both could sleep better. She also wanted to leave her scent so he could recognize her as his mother. That is how the Zaky was born.
